Speaker, Author, Bible Teacher

Hello, I'm Dorothea Shields
My Story
I grew up in church.

I knew Jesus, but I didn’t know His word.
My growing up years found me searching for a sense of belonging and acceptance that always seemed to elude me. That search took me down paths that left me emptier than when I started.

It was when I began my relationship with the Word of God that my life finally began to change. I went from stagnated in my spiritual growth to growing like Virginia Creeper on a retaining wall.
God knew the spiritual gift He wanted to give me (teaching), and so, while I learned, I couldn’t help but share with others. My life was being transformed through the washing of the word in my heart and mind, and I wanted others to experience it too.
As I explored God’s word from Genesis to Revelation, I began to put people, places, and things together. When I came across Revelation 19:7-8, I was compelled to excavate the word. I developed a teaching (because I had to share what I learned), stepped out of my comfort zone, and signed up to lead a small group at church. Then, I wrote my first Bible study, Fitted for Grace.
During this time, my husband and I were avid short-term missions trip participants. We joined some groups from our church and a global church leader equipping ministry. I began teaching and preaching all the amazing things God taught me from His word, and my speaking ministry was born.
From 2001 until now, my compelling mission is to see God’s children grow spiritually by developing a relationship with His word. When His children love Jesus AND the Word, they can begin to walk in the fullness of their callings in faith, not performance or ritual.
My Work
Since 2001, I’ve taught the Bible extensively. Fourteen of those years were on the mission field of Dallas’s inner city, walking closely with women in real battles and real transformation.

I love making Scripture simple and applicable, taking the Word off the page and putting it into the hands of real women living real lives.
More About Me
Outside of ministry, I’m a wife, mother, and Mimi based in the Dallas, Texas area.

On any given Tuesday you can find my husband and me enjoying Taco Tuesday. No matter the company, tacos will be eaten.

I’m an unintentional plant mama with over 20 plants — none of which I bought.

I will cruise anywhere, anytime, with anyone. I will always choose nuts in my cookies and ice cream, but never shredded coconut. And I will have a little bit of hot chocolate with my whipped cream.
