Hello, I'm Dorothea Shields
My Story
I grew up in church.
But there's a difference between knowing about God and truly knowing His Word. I had a relationship with Jesus, but I didn't have the Word working in my life — and without it, I was still searching for things only He could provide.
That search took me down paths that left me emptier than when I started.
When I surrendered to what God's Word actually said about me — about His love, His purpose, and what He had already provided — everything changed. He gave me what I had been looking for all along: real belonging, acceptance, and a purpose worth living for.
That experience is the foundation of everything I teach. I know what it feels like to have faith without the Word fully at work in your life. I know the exhaustion of striving. And I know what it means to finally stop striving and start living from what God has already provided.
That's what I want for every woman who sits in a room where I'm teaching.
My Work
For more than 25 years I have taught the Bible to women — including 14 years on the mission field of the inner city, walking closely with women in real battles and real transformation.
I'm a Bible teacher, Christian speaker, and author of two Bible studies.
I love making Scripture simple and applicable, taking the Word off the page and putting it into the hands of real women living real lives.
More About Me
Outside of ministry, Dorothea is a wife, mother, and grandmother — Mimi to her grandchildren — based in the Dallas, Texas area.
On any given Tuesday you can find her and her husband enjoying Taco Tuesday. No matter the company, tacos will be eaten.
She is an unintentional plant mama with over 20 plants — none of which she bought.
She will cruise anywhere, anytime, with anyone. She will always choose nuts in her cookies and ice cream, but never shredded coconut. And she will have a little bit of hot chocolate with her whipped cream.
